Attorney Marc Watkins was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma and after graduating high school, he chose to serve his nation by joining the United States Air Force instead of going straight to college. During his 5 years in the US Air Force, Attorney Watkins worked as a Medical Administration Technician. While on active duty, he sought to further his education and attended Southwest Texas Junior College in the small town of Del Rio, Texas where he was stationed. Working for Uncle Sam during the day and taking classes at night, Attorney Watkins graduated with an Associate degree in Business Administration after being admitted to the Phi Theta Kappa national honor society for junior colleges. Not long after, Attorney Watkins received an honorable discharge from active duty service.
Attorney Watkins continued his undergraduate education at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. Majoring in Political Science, he was an active member in the pre-law society and also offered a membership in the Phi Alpha Delta legal Fraternity. Attorney Watkins went on to graduate with honors from Morehouse College; he then was accepted to the University Of Miami School Of Law.
At Miami, Attorney Watkins was very active in student government and other on-campus activities. He served as student ambassador and won several school-wide legal competitions. During this time Attorney Watkins began his work in criminal law where he interned with the Public Defender’s Office of Dade County and the State Attorney’s Office
Returning to Atlanta after receiving his Juris Doctorate from U.M., Attorney Watkins began his legal career as a Solicitor with the City of Atlanta Solicitor’s Office. While there, he handled cases that involved minor violations of city ordinance, he also conducted numerous probable cause hearings that violated state laws. Attorney Watkins went on to work as a prosecutor with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted felony cases which ranged from shoplifting escalating to more severe offenses. Acting as lead counsel, Attorney Watkins conducted numerous trials in which his conviction rate was over 80%. Of the number of cases that were appealed by defendants, 100% of those cases were upheld by the Georgia Court of Appeals and or the Supreme Court.
After his time as a prosecutor, Attorney Watkins opened his own practice where he specializes in Criminal Defense. Attorney Watkins defends those charged with DUIs, Probation Violations, Misdemeanors and serious felonies. He has assisted families going through the painful process of divorce handling both divorces and child custody/support issues. Attorney Watkins has assisted those injured through the negligence of others to recoup financially in an attempt to make them whole.
